I use this light on my Weber S320 grill. It has a switch to automatically turn on when the lid is open and off when the lid is closed. It also has a day/night sensor to prevent it from wasting the battery while grilling in daylight.

It will light up the entire grill with a natural colored light. The light does not distort color. This is very nice for checking how well done the food is.

I highly recommend this to light.

I had one of these on my beloved Genesis Silver B. When I gave the grill a new home to upgrade to a Genesis S-320, I ordered this the same day.

If you're grilling after dark, this light is just flat out awesome. It's just bright enough to cover your grilling area, without attracting every bug in the neighborhood. And because the lights are LED's with a gravity switch, you're never burning through batteries. In fact, I never used the power switch on my old one, and the three AAA batteries kept the thing going strong for at least a year.

Seriously, once you use one of these, you will never, ever go back.

This is a great little feature to own. It works quite well and I will not miss holding a flashlight under my chin while grilling after sundown any more. The LED bulbs are amazingly bright for their size and the way it shuts off after the cover is closed is a good feature in case you forget to turn it off manually. I recommend this item highly.

It works great-was dubious after reading some of the other reviews. Worked so well for me I sent one to a friend. Gives light where you need it and the feature of it turning off when you lower the lid is a unique feature. I think this is why in one of the reviews someone wrote "the light flickers" or something to that effect. Read the information provided.

Had this light for a couple weeks and it is all that I wanted from a light. Easy to install, good lighting that doesn't distort the meat coloration and love that it automatically comes on when you lift the grill cover.

I recently bought my first Weber, an S-310, so I needed to accessorize it. :)

I was going to get the Weber cover, but after reading the reviews talking about the large vents in the side that let in water, I decided to check it out in person. Sure enough, the Weber cover has large vents that would let in water. Who came up with that idea??? Anyways, I went with a cover from Charmglow, and bought this light.

The light is well designed and made especially for certain Weber grills. I had to read the instructions to make sure I assembled it correctly for me grill, but it was pretty simple. The light uses normal AAA batteries and provides good lighting on the cooking surface.

Good price, good illumination, well made, and uses common AAA batteries. I like how even when switched on, the light doesn't go bright until you open the grill.

After setting it up during the day, I was wondering if it would be bright enough to illuminate the grill. Once nightfall hit, I turned it on and my meat glistened like protein from the Gods. The 3 little LED's really do the trick. This is highly recommended by me

This is a great solution for a weber grill that does not have great light around it. I bought two and put them on both sides of the the handle and the LED lights are great. Battery life so far is really good. Buy one or two.

I often grill when it's dark, and my grill is situated too far from the patio light to be able to see. This is the perfect answer. It provides a sufficient amount of light focused on the cooking surface.

This little gadget throws a lot of light and fits snugly on my Weber Genesis. The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars, is that the mechanism that is supposed to shut the light off when the grill is closed, still lets a bit of a current leak through to the lights, so that if you don't press the button to turn off the unit completely, your batteries will drain in no time. Aside from that though, this product is a must for people with Weber grills in areas where the lighting isn't so great.

This does a nice job of lighting up the entire cooking surface of my Weber Genesis grill. I'm not crazy about the hard switch (that makes sure the light won't turn on), but it gets the job done. The instructions were pitiful. As simple as this light is, there were some parts of putting it together that were not obvious and this was not described at all (for instance, I couldn't figure out how the battery compartment opened and the instructions didn't help; I was afraid I might damage it). However, I did figure it out and it works great. It also looks good and looks like it belongs.

Regarding the fact that the auto-sensing mechanism doesn't shut the unit off completely, I don't think it's a design flaw. When I first turn the light on with the grill cover closed, it does not come on at all. When I open it, it comes on full. When I close it, it goes to a dim mode. It is my opinion that this is a feature, designed to light up the handle so you can find it in complete darkness. I don't grill in "complete darkness", but I suppose if you did this could come in handy. While it might not be a smart design decision for most users, I don't believe it's a design flaw.

I bought one of these grill lights, and found that although it was pretty bright, it really didn't produce enough light to tell whether a steak was done by its color. So, I bought a second grill light and now have two of the lights mounted on the handle of my Weber Genesis grill.

Both of the lights that I bought seem to be equally bright, but there is a problem with one of them. These Weber grill lights actually have two on/off switches: One is the normal pushbutton kind on the side of the light, and it is the primary power on/off switch. The other switch is internal, and it is supposed to automatically turn the light on when you raise the grill lid and bring the grill light to horizontal. This internal switch is also supposed to douse the light when the light is in the vertical position when you close the grill lid.

Sounds great, right? The problem is that the auto on/off position switch works on one of the lights that I have, but not the other. I don't consider this to be too big a defect, because both lights still work well when you use the manual, push-button on/off switch. And, my set-up of two lights on the handle of my grill do give me enough light to judge the doneness of meat.

Bottom line - You may need two of these lights to see the food on the grill well enough, especially if you have older eyes like mine. And, don't be surprised if you have a glitch or two from the auto on/off gizmo. But, the switch problem is not really a deal-breaker for me, since the lights work OK in the manual mode.

I grill all year long and wouldn't be without this light in the winter months. Make sure you get the right model for your grill as there are a couple very similar styles.

Just received the handle light kit. I was worried that it wouldn't fit since European versions are often slightly different from the US models; no worries here. The kits comes with 2 different handle sizes, and it was a perfect fit. Really like the light feature that turns on when the grill lid is lifted and off when it closes - like the refrigerator light!

On assembling the light, I tested it by rotating in my hand before mounting it to the grill. It flawlessly turned the light on every time I rotated it to simulate the cover-open position, but on rotating it 90 deg to simulate "cover-closed", the LEDs dimmed to ALMOST all the out, but never quite fully extinguished. To confirm, I mounted the light to the cover handle and raised the cover. Presto! White light fully illuminated the cooking surface, but... when I lowered the shroud and used a small hand mirror to look directly "into" the LEDs once again, I saw that they still were faintly glowing. Not at all what I was hoping for, but when I called Amazon customer service and inquired about this problem, I was told a replacement would be shipped immediately for receipt the next day (Saturday, no less!) Sure enough, It arrived FedEx before 2:00 PM, Saturday May 29th!

To summerize;
The Grill-Out Light is a terrific idea, and due to it's redundant features of having both a gravity switch as well as a hard-wired On-Off button on the front, won't cause you to exhaust the 3 AAA batteries in hours AS LONG AS YOU REMEMBER TO TURN IT OFF USING THE PUSH BUTTON when done for the evening. I'll post an update once I see if the replacement product suffers from the same issue (one reported by multiple other reviewers as well).

As to Amazon... what can I say? They continue to offer a huge diversity of products at a competitive price, and outstanding customer service. As Ahnald used to say, "I'll be back". For sure!

Well, mid Summer is probably not the best time to do this review... It stays light so late in my area that I haven't really needed it yet. As it gets into Fall and Winter (we grill year round if we can clear a path through the snow) it should be quite useful. Typically the problem has been that the grill and lid have the lights on the deck coming from the wrong direction. An overhead light should help. It seems bright enough when I did go out to check it out after dark, its automatic, and it can be turned off if it isn't needed. Guess I'll have to see how it holds up when the weather gets cold.

We ordered two of the Weber grill lights 62010. We received the 7516 instead. I didn't check the item till 2 months later, and after we had installed one. It was too late to return them or exchange. We were charged the higher price for the other light, yet received the cheaper one. Very disappointed with the store (not Amazon). Will not shop with them again.
The light itself is great. It lights up our E-210 grill, and we need only light. Actually, one would fit on the bar of the grill. It's great because it doesn't get in the way, provides enough light, and we haven't had to replace the batteries since 3-4 months...still going strong.
Just be sure to check the box it comes in to see which light you received.

Well made and provides great light for grilling after dark but the position switch does not work exactly as they might have you believe.

All in all likely still the best bet for a perm. mount grill light.

25.) Works fine, but has a couple of issues

I don't use the auto-on function because when you close the grill the light doesn't turn completely off. If you forget about that, your batteries will drain overnight. This is a design flaw as far as I concerned. But it's not a deal-breaker because there's an on/off switch that works just fine.

The housing for this light is plastic and it gets pretty hot when the grill is over 500 degrees. It hasn't melted in a year of grilling so I stopped worrying about it, but all that heat can't be good for it.


26.) Close - Some Good, Some Bad

The light has some pluses, but maybe the build quality is down? I have a Weber Spirit E-310 Natural Gas I bought about 4 months ago.

1) The instructions are very clear on which bracket to use - problem the bracket for the slotted handle doesn't work as the light would then point inward, not on the grilling surface, when the lid is up. Fortunately, after playing with this for 10 minutes, I tried the bracket for the round metal handle and it fit okay.

2) The light flickers when the light is up. Yes, it's on full bright. Yes, it's positioned properly. If I tap it a couple times on the right hand side after I've raised the lid, it then stays on without flickering.

3) The light stays on very dimly when the lid is down - just as another reviewer commented. It's just a bit of light and I checked it at night in the absolute darkness to be certain I wasn't seeing light reflected onto the LEDs from another source. I have to manually turn it off so to not run down the batteries.

So, 3 stars. Fits fine, bright enough for the purpose, doesn't get in the way of the cover.

Needed improvements - Gravity switch needs to be stable so the light doesn't flicker, Gravity switch needs off to be OFF (no slightly on), instructions need to be updated for the 2009 Spirit E-310.

Adding a small amount of convenience to your nighttime BBQ session, this grill light helps ensure that you never have to remember a flashlight again. Kinda worth it?? I guess so. I wish it used double A batteries instead of triple A. Could be a bit brighter as well.

Does not fit my older Genesis Gold C which has a wider plastic handle. Someone needs to add a compatibility list. Instructions show three kinds of handles that it fits, none of which are mine.

This item was engineered terribly. I bought a Weber 210 grill for my husband for his birthday in April, and we tried to put this grill light on the handle of the grill cover for 2 hours. We tried every imaginable way to install it, and it either shown right into our faces with the grill cover up, or out the back of the grill, but never, never, never down on the food that we wanted to grill. We finally decided that it was not possible to install it on our grill, and tried to send it back, but then realized that Amazon's return policy was expired, and we would be unable to return it. We have all the parts, but not the box it came it since we had already thrown that away by the time we got around to trying to install the light. We thought it came with batteries, but it did not.
